Porns to be consumed

It was a big surprise when i did this calculation. The number of porn videos that has been produced in a year multiplied by 3000 Yen, the price of the video. The answer of it is vast amount of money. Porn industry is regarded as excellent business enterprise in Japan where money is above everything else. Porn video (sexuality) is not a culture, probably now it's right to consider it as a products which to be consumed.

Approximately 15,000 porn videos were produced last year, in other words, about 42 titles were made everyday. There is at least one porn actress in each film. We don't have official statistics to count how many porn actresses exist but this numbers tells us enough that there are so many porn actresses in Japan now. So why those girls became porn star? According to a survey, 1. money, 2. curiosity towards sexuality or headline-seeker 3. To be more beautiful 4. In comparison with prostitution, no worries about sexual disease, 5. Aiming to be a star, to enter show business industry. Indeed, some porn actresses I've met told me that they couldn't say NO (couldn't express their will) when they were scouted then stepped into porn world. Also they told me that they know quite a few porn actress who entered porn world for the same reason. Since it's appearance in 1980s, Japanese porn culture has been famous in all over the world. Now the word "AV" (adult video=porn video) or "Bukkake" industry jargon that means many people souse semen over girl's face are official language in the world. However, not many people can list up which porn actresses have been flourished now, maybe only porn freaks can.. Yet, this industry has been systematized and created a huge consumer culture while we hadn't been notice. If you can't to deny 1-5 reasons above it's so easy to be involved in the wheel.

Took 1 hour train (bullet train) journey from Tokyo to go to club night.
The city I arrived at 11 pm was empty.
There wasn't anyone on the street.
Typical view of local city.

To consume this city it'd need so many people.
But the view i saw is the reality.
When the big franchise shops are introduced, people get excited.
"Wow, finally this came to my city" or "We have this shopping mole!" kind of..
inevitably people tend to shift to bigger things,
and the city which was meant to built for commercial purpose, it cant last..
This is obvious thing but a lot of people are not aware of this.

if we don't change the consuming system, little local shops which have been there long time close down
and you'll see brands' shops being around any where which are run by big capital when you get out of station.
Those cities end up having full of consumer loan companies, pachinko (gambling) and kyabakura (kind of bar where girls chat with you and serve you drinks)

Only civil service workers, gangsta, and its culture are flourished in such a city.

It is not matter of good or bad.
You have to be tough enough to go through this time.

The place you live should be the most beautiful place.
If not, you'd better realize that it's only you who can change the environment there.
I believe that it's time for Japanese people to consider about this matter seriously.

東京から新幹線で1時間ちょっと。
イベントのため
夜中の11時に到着した街には
誰も人が歩いていなかった。
地方都市にありがちな風景。
結論から言えば、
どこもかしこも、
こんな消費するには
どれだけ人がいればいいんだ、
ってカンジの街作り。
でもね、似たような街を作れば
最初は「自分の街にもこんなのができた」って盛り上がるとしても、
必然的により巨大な方に人は流れていくし、
そうなれば消費という前提のもとに作られた街は
機能を停止する。
こんな当たり前なことを
こんな状況になっても人々は気づいていない。

消費するシステムを変えない限り、
昔からあったお店はどんどん潰れ、
駅ビルを降りたら
大きな資本で経営される
どこにでもあるブランドのお店があって、
それにサラリーローンやパチンコや
キャバクラがあるだけになっていく街作りは変わらない。

そしてそんな街で
元気なのは
公務員と
ギャングスター、
そしてそれをとりまく夜のカルチャーだけ。

いい、悪いの問題じゃない。
そこを生き抜くには、
相当にタフな心を必要とする時代が
もう来ちゃってんだよね。

今いる場所がいちばん美しい。
そうじゃなかったら、
そこを変えるのは自分たちしかしない、ことを
今日本人は真剣に考えなきゃいけない時期が来てると思う。

Mac Disaster

My mac's hard disk broke down early next week.
Went to apple store to fix it..
But unfortunately I was told that it's impossible to take out the data from the computer at the shop.
So I had to send it to some kind of special place to fix hard disk..
Every time something like this happen, I face this fact, back up is soooo important.
However, in proportion to the tremendous amount of data I put in every day, I feel taking backup is a pain in the ass, to be honest..
1 click seems like such a hard work.

Well, but still I can carry on working like this, so I should see this from more positive point of view.. Like it helped me to organise my data in a way..
I tried to be positive but actually I think I can't forget about this pain of losing some girls' pix..

But, I would never stop taking photos at any time!!

A magazine called ES POSHH!! organizes monthly party event at club ATOM so I joined the party for the first time.

A few weeks ago, I picked up 4 female models from the magazine to do photo shooting for TOKYO SWEET at warp magazine.

At the party, I got some tequila and champagne to be a usual party mode!

Japanese people have this tendency to try maintaining their identities by fundamentally getting used to things.

When the government or society forces us to do something unreasonable or impossible, we do our best to change ourselves in order to accept it, rather then expecting it to be changed..

That's how Japanese people are and there's a good and bad side to it.

However, these days it seems to be overloaded.These days you see Japan and Japanese society being tired and fatigued.

We should be able to choose the way of life by ourselves.

Even this basic thought has been commercialized and only way to confirm our identity is consuming those products.

I hate being like that.
Like a venturer in the city, I'm seeking culture and air that haven't been commercialized.

summer again

Between last Thursday and Saturday, i was invited as an official photographer for events twice.
One is for opening party for NUDE JEANS and another one is for BIKINI SHOCK which I invited you in the previous post.
In latter case, I had a pretty good time by being surrounded by girls wearing swimming wear. Sometimes i forgot that actually i was thre for my job and down deer quite a lot.

However, even though I was drunk I couldn't get rid of the fact that it's being abnormal climate. Actually, it's not only this year, but for last 10 years climate has being strange. You feel like this strange climate is normal, now.

I wonder what's going on with our planet.
It is almost impossible to sort this situation out, but what am i doing to make it better? I asked myself then realise that what i do is really little, like "refuse to receive disposal chopsticks at convenience stores."

At least, I'd like to have fun with girls like this year next summer, again.
In order to do that... I made up my mind to be earth friendly person more..

B-BOY PARK 10TH ANIVERSARY

"B-BOY PARK", fes for Japanese B-BOYs, took place at Yoyogi Park for 3 days, between August 17th and 19th．Over 60 groups took part in.

This event started from 1997, so this year was 10th anniversary.

I've known the organiser, CRAZY-A for over 20 years, now.

In Japan, scenes that have grown and captured public attention dramatically are often labelled as "boom" by media. And media tend to decide and claim the ends of the scene after a while. Therefore, it's hard to form next generation. Why does it happen?

Within extremely consume-oriented economic principle, in order to keep the attention from Japanese audience, scenes have to make ever increasing sales.
Otherwise people get tired.

Especially if you are in such an environment, what is important is "keep it going with will".

Had a chat about it with CRAZY-A.

What is important to be star in Japan is how much you can stay normal rather than being professional.

Let me explain.
Staying normal is being able to think like everyone else does.

Yet, the same way of thinking with everyone doesn't have any proof.
We don't ask someone to confirm if it's normal.
We sort of assume which way of thinking doesn't make people think that you are wired.

This ability to get what is "normal" is a proof of Japanese.

To make it easy, take porn as an example.
Despite their professional work, their way of thinking has to be like this..
"No way, I'm doing something very embarrassing.. What am i doing!?
I'm a really bad girl"
People think that girls has to think like this..
Therefore, they have to express that they have that thought in front of camera.

In other words, there is no difference between work and private in Japan.

Last Friday, I went to "MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2007" which took place at Saitama Super Arena where 50,000 people can get in.

my recommendation out of the permormers there is DJ OZMA (centre in the photo bellow. after performance) From Americanized young Japanese point of view, his "the Japanese" performance looked very fresh.

JAPANESE DANCEHALL LOVERS

Meguroshokudo is a night club in Meguro, Tokyo. I went there for a dancehall night. Japanese dancehall has been developing and establishing brand new style which is very different from Jamaican.

Please read the article about Japanese dancehall bellow which i wrote for NUMERO TOKYO.

Anyway, they are the sex icon these days. Even magazines for middle aged guys who had never heard reggae feature them and there are reggae dance feature within idol section at satellite channel, moreover reggae X sex porn is selling well. However, if you gain their information from only from those media, you'll never be able to capture their true nature.

At 3 am, their show time starts at clubs. it's always packed. what you feel strange there is the fact that although their performance has strong sex appeal to provoke men, most of the audience are girls. Often, they are students of the dancers on the stage at dance school. girls seriously try to learn the actions to whip up guys... Since what they learn is very close to instinct, automatically and easily their action (dance) escalates. But as they learn it seriously their instinct stays serious. It's the same for dance teachers. There was Jamaica as a pioneer. Therefore, I've never found them real erotic. I simply think that that's the way for Japanese reggae dance and I'm not criticizing them at all. There are different ways for Jamaican and Japanese. They are sex icons who are actually far from sex.

Katsumi Watanabe is a photographer who was taking pictures of one of the towns in Tokyo called Shinjyuku with own definite point over 50 years. His photo book entitled "GANGS OF KABUKICHO" was released. You can see real 60s of Japan without feigning.

I got to know him when i was making a magazine called "Out of Photographer"10 years ago. He came to my office from time to time. After staying up till morning we strolled to Shinjuku for shooting. We kept doing this for months. He also participated in one of the photo books I made.

The photo book release reminded me the fact that he past away last year.
"Shinjuku doesn't excite me, lately", his last word.

Authority, gang star who don't care about rules, strip most of the big cities in Japan as typified by Shinjuku of production ie creativity. Who they need is only consumers who dutifully spend money.

- The Tokyo street scenes ?

I think that original form of street fashion (scene), which has spread into all over the world, was born in Japan. We were making brand new sense of value for fashion that was completely different from the past. However, somewhere along the time, it drift into just a demarche to be involved in old school fashion system. You can find only few creators on the street which was supposed to be a place to create new things. As one of the few creators who has remained, I've been deploying various activities in order to grab back street as battle demarche in our hand.

- The reed space exhibition at New york ?

It was battle which a bold guy, Jeff tried to get back pornography in our hand using my artwork in the situation where pornography (you can replace it to street scene) has been dominated by old school system. Pornography is the most effective demarche for revolution.

- The hairy candy of the Japanese girls you shoot ?

hEEEEeeeeeeeyyy.my name is yone.....I'm a photographer, taking pictures of girls and culture surround them.kick off blogging from today.would like to introduce japanese girls as well as my works here.

To start with.. went to Nagoya to attend a fashion show, which is 1 and half hour away fromTokyo by bullet train, last Fri.my job was simply just shooting girls, there.I've got free right to use all the photos.. very easy going job;)
